158 days after the horrific injury in January, Norwegian alpine star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is back on skis.

Great to feel that I can turn a bit, says the 31-year-old.

Aamodt Kilde conducted a ski test on Wednesday at an indoor facility in Lørenskog outside Oslo.

There has been great uncertainty surrounding the Norwegian alpine star since he crashed badly in the World Championship downhill event in Wengen on 13 January this year.

The 31-year-old has been forced to undergo several operations and a long training break due to injuries including those to his legs and shoulder blades.

It's lacking a bit of strength and motor skills, but it's a good start overall. It's nice to do a few turns and feel it, says Aleksander Aamodt Kilde after the ski test.

The Norwegian took two medals at the Beijing Olympics over two years ago, a silver in the combined event and a bronze in super-G, and has won 21 World Championship titles.

The upcoming World Championship season begins in Sölden in October. The World Championship will take place in Saalbach in February. It is unclear when Aamodt Kilde can compete again.

Now I can start building from the ground up, he says.
