Ludvig Åberg is closing in on the lead in the star-studded PGA tour event in Connecticut.

The Swede was 24th when he began the third round. It started well with a birdie – and many more were to come before Åberg finished for the day. He was eventually able to sign for a scorecard with 62 strokes, eight under par after as many birdies on the round.

This leaves the 24-year-old golf star from Eslöv in a tied 12th place with a total of 12 under par, six strokes behind the leading South Korean Tom Kim.

Åberg's excellent 62-round could not, however, match Cameron Young's effort earlier in the day. The American managed a dream round of 59 strokes, the first to be achieved on the PGA tour since 2020.

The competition in Connecticut is one of the PGA tour's "elevated" events with a limited starting field and a first prize of 3.6 million dollars (approximately 38 million kronor).
