The newly established position includes, among other things, responsibility for talent development and cooperation between the association and the elite leagues, writes the association in a press release.

"I really look forward to this assignment, which feels inspiring. I feel humble towards hockey as a popular movement, it's a wonderful environment to work in," says Helber in a statement.

Helber played ten seasons in Linköping and later became the club's director for twelve years. He has also been an expert commentator on C More and worked as a player agent.

"Swedish ice hockey should be the best in the world, it's a mission that the entire hockey movement stands behind. A strategic role is needed for this, and when the picture of the assignment began to clear, I saw no one better suited than Mike Helber to take on the responsibility," says Christer Plars, Secretary General of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
