After finishing the first day on 67 strokes, three under par, there were continued opportunities for Ludvig Åberg to latch onto the top ahead of the weekend's play in the PGA Tour event, the Travelers Championship. However, a good second round was needed, which would take the Swede up a few places on the leaderboard.

That did not happen.

Instead, the Swedish star went around TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut on 69 strokes, "only" one under par.

As a result, he is a good way behind the players in the lead, and needs to make a significant upswing during the second half of the competition to have anything to do with the top struggle.

However, Åberg does not need to worry about the cut. The Travelers Championship is one of eight tournaments that have elevated status on the PGA Tour, which means a smaller starting field where all players get to play all rounds.

The leader is South Korean Tom Kim, who after two days is 13 under par.
