Mattias Ekholm gave Edmonton a dream start.

But Florida came to dominate the second period in the Stanley Cup and won 4–1.

Edmonton took the lead just over ten minutes into the first period when Mattias Ekholm shot in 1–0.

It was Edmonton's first goal in the final series, as Florida goalkeeper Sergej Bobrovskij had a stellar performance in the first meeting and kept a clean sheet.

Edmonton retained the lead for the rest of the period after the Swedish goal. But during the second act, Florida's Niko Mikkola equalised, and then it was all over for Edmonton.

In the third period, Canadian Evan Rodrigues scored two goals in a row, one of them assisted by Swedish Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Aaron Ekblad finished off with a fourth goal in an open net for the home team.

Another win for Florida. And once again, they shut down Edmonton's usually potent play in numerical superiority. The key to it? The forecheck, according to Forsling.

The win came, however, at a high price. Halfway through the third period, Florida lost their captain Aleksander Barkov, after Edmonton's forward Leon Draisaitl took a run and tackled Barkov in the head.

Barkov, who lay on the ice for a while, needed help to get off the ice and then proceeded to Florida's dressing room for further evaluation.

The win means that Florida leads 2–0 in the best-of-seven series.

For Gustav Forsling, it's delightful to play in the Stanley Cup Final.
