Car owners with electric vehicles manufactured by American General Motors (GM) will, starting in September, gain access to competitor Tesla's fast-charging stations. This is the result of an agreement reached between the car manufacturers' CEOs Mary Barra and Elon Musk last year.

To plug into Tesla's 17,800 fast chargers in North America, owners of GM cars will need to purchase an approved adapter for 225 dollars, which will be available at GM's dealerships.

It is unclear whether the GM adapter for Tesla charging will only be sold in North America.
