Volleyball player Isabelle Haak is the recipient of this year's Victoria Prize.

It meant an intense day with ceremonies, far from her normal sports routine.

After a private meeting, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, it was followed by a traditional casting of her hands and feet in Borgholm at lunchtime. This is something that all previous winners of the Victoria Prize have done.

In the evening, the actual prize was awarded.

Isabelle Haak has previously emphasized how big this prize is for both her personally and for Swedish volleyball:

"It's truly an honor to receive this prestigious prize. I'm a bit shocked, actually, but at the same time, it's of course very fun that volleyball, which is a small sport in Sweden, is recognized in this way", said Isabelle Haak in a press release.

Isabelle Haak was awarded the prize because she is one of the world's best volleyball players. Last year, she won the Champions League with her Italian team Imoco Volley. In that final, she was named the match's most valuable player.

Now she belongs to a renowned group of Victoria Prize winners, including Ingemar Stenmark, Gunde Svan, Jan-Ove Waldner, and Pernilla Wiberg.
