Han brought Leicester back to the Premier League.

But Enzo Maresca is not following the club – he is taking over Chelsea instead.

"He has shown himself to be an outstanding coach who can deliver impressive results," say sport chiefs Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

In May, it was clear that Mauricio Pochettino would only have one season as a coach for Chelsea.

Nearly two weeks later, the Premier League club has made it official with his replacement: Enzo Maresca.

"Enzo has impressed us in our talks. His ambitions and work ethic match the club's, and we are really looking forward to working with him," say Chelsea's sport chiefs Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley in a statement on the club's website.

The Italian becomes Chelsea's sixth coach since American Todd Boehly and his business group took over the club two years ago.

44-year-old Maresca left Manchester City's organization and took over Leicester in 2023. His first season was a success, as the club won the Championship and returned to the top division again.

His performance earned him a five-year contract, plus an option for another year, with Chelsea.

"Signing for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for all coaches. Therefore, I am also thrilled about this opportunity," he says on the club's website.
