Nylander equalized to 1–1 barely a minute into the second period and could then take the lead. Pittsburgh reduced to 3–2 through Swedish Rickard Rakell in the third period, but Nylander extended for Toronto with a goal in an open net.

It was William Nylander's first point since the season start. During last season's regular season, the 28-year-old scored 98 points, including 40 goals. He was then the top scorer among NHL Swedes and the performance is counted as his best ever.

Nylander's Toronto has now won two out of three played matches this season.

New NHL club Utah continued its winning streak tonight, this time with the help of Swedish Kevin Stenlund, who scored one of the goals when New York Rangers was defeated 6–5.

28-year-old Stenlund moved to Utah after winning the Stanley Cup with Florida last season.

Newly formed Utah has now won three out of three matches. Previously, Chicago and New York Islanders were defeated 5–2 and 5–4, respectively.
