Premier League keeps VAR.

The English football clubs voted against the proposal to abolish the video assistant referee technology at their annual meeting on Thursday.

Only one club voted in favor.

It was Wolverhampton that had put forward the proposal, after being irritated several times during the season by VAR decisions that went against the team.

However, when the 20 clubs' representatives voted on the matter at the annual meeting on Thursday, the vote fell to keep the system. Fourteen clubs would have had to vote in favor for the proposal to pass, but only Wolverhampton voted in favor, according to BBC.

However, an agreement was reached to try to make the system even more reliable.

"Even though VAR means more accurate verdicts, it was decided to develop the system to benefit both football and fans," writes Premier League in a statement on their website.

Automatic assistance for offside judgments will also be introduced in the Premier League this fall. The hope is that this change will also lead to faster VAR decisions.
