German police stopped a Turkish supporter march in Berlin ahead of the European Championship quarterfinal between the Netherlands and Turkey at the Olympic Stadium.

The reason was that several football supporters made the so-called "wolf gesture" with their hands.

"A supporter march is not a forum for political messages", the police wrote on X, according to Bild.

The "wolf gesture" is a sign associated with the Turkish far-right organization Grey Wolves. The sign is banned in Austria and Grey Wolves is a banned organization in France.

After his second goal in Turkey's 2-1 win over Austria in the European Championship round of 16 on Tuesday, Turkish defender Merih Demiral formed his hands into two wolves. The European Football Association (Uefa) has suspended Demiral for two matches. Something that has been criticized by Turkey.

"We condemn Uefa's unfair and biased decision, which has no legal basis but which we believe is purely political", wrote Turkey's Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak on X on Friday.
