Russia claims to have taken another village in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. It concerns Heorhijvka, which is located about three miles west of the city of Donetsk, which is also under Russian control, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow.
In parallel, Germany announces that it plans to provide additional military support to Ukraine worth 400 million euros. The money is needed to fulfill the German government's commitment to support the Ukrainian forces, according to a letter to the parliamentary budget committee.
Russia's large-scale invasion of neighboring Ukraine began in February 2022. Fighting is now taking place on both sides of the border.
