The Russian central bank chief Ksenija Judajeva, who is under sanctions from the USA, will take over as Russia's representative on the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is headquartered in Washington.

This is stated by the country's current representative in the post, Aleksej Mozjin.

Yes, I can confirm that. From November 1, Ksenija will be Russia's decision-maker in the IMF, he says.

Judajeva was one of the targets of one of the USA's first sanctions packages, which came into force in April 2022, two months after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The reason she ended up on the list was partly due to her role in the Russian central bank as well as her position in Otkritie, one of the country's largest commercial banks.

Formally, those subject to such punitive measures by the USA are not allowed to enter the country.
