Several people are not allowed to work at security companies because they are deemed to pose a threat to Sweden's security, reports Ekot on Swedish Radio.
It may be that they have connections to society-threatening activities, says Kristoffer Benjaminsson, supervisory officer at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm, to the radio.
During 2024, nearly 50 people have lost the approval required from the County Administrative Board, the supervisory authority for the security industry, to work at a security company.
Based on statistics from five of seven County Administrative Boards between January and May this year, 46 people had their approval revoked.
This includes, among other things, assault, sexual molestation of children, drug offenses, and benefit fraud.
In 13 cases, there are classified motivations that the police or security police have informed about. These are subject to high secrecy, even for the affected individuals – which only occurs if there is an extremely high protection value on the information.
At the County Administrative Board in Stockholm, over a third of the revocation decisions have received such a level of secrecy.
