The Court of Appeal increases the sentence for two teenagers who were convicted in the district court in April for a powerful explosion north of Uppsala, reports P4 Uppland.
The explosion in a residential area in Lövstalöt in December can, according to the prosecutor, be linked to the ongoing gang conflict in Uppsala. Several residents testified to a loud bang and an enormous shockwave, and above all, one house suffered significant damage.
In April, the district court sentenced one of the teenagers, a 15-year-old, to eight months of closed youth care for endangering the public. The sentence is now increased to ten months of closed youth care.
The other teenager, now 19 years old, was sentenced by the district court to four years in prison for handling the explosive charge, aiding and abetting the explosion, and aiding and abetting a planned explosion in northern Stockholm. The 19-year-old's sentence is now increased by the Court of Appeal to five and a half years in prison.
