The factory employees at American Boeing have rejected the employer's latest offer on wage increases through the union.

The decision was made through a union vote on Wednesday and means that their strike, which affects 33,000 employees and began on September 13, will continue.

The offer included, among other things, wage increases of a total of 35 percent over four years, which can be compared to the company's original proposal of 25 percent over the same period.

A strong reason for giving a thumbs-down is that the company refuses to reinstate an earlier pension plan, which was scrapped ten years ago, according to Boeing employees to AP.

The strike has hit the aircraft manufacturer hard, which is estimated to lose up to a billion dollars a month. On Wednesday, Boeing – which recently announced that 10 percent of its workforce will be cut – published its results for the third quarter, showing a loss of 6.2 billion dollars.
