Investments in solar cells continue in the country. Borgholm on Öland has the most electricity from solar cells per inhabitant among the municipalities.
In the kingdom as a whole, the average installed power from solar cells was 376 watts per person in December 2023, according to a fresh compilation by Svensk Solenergi based on figures from the Energy Agency.
This can be compared to 14 watts per inhabitant in 2016 and represents an increase of over 2,500 percent since then.
The highest installed power from solar cells per inhabitant – 1,635 watts – was found in Borgholm at the end of last year, compared to 943 watts the previous year. The municipality climbs from third place.
Sjöbo in Skåne remains in second place, now with 1,585 watts per person in installed power from solar cells.
Skurup, also in Skåne, falls from first to third place with 1,576 watts installed power per inhabitant.
How it looks varies greatly around the country. In northern Sweden, there are several municipalities where solar cells are only a marginal feature.
Gällivare has the lowest installed power, 17 watts per inhabitant, followed by Haparanda and Kiruna with 19 and 30 watts, respectively.
