The Taliban's moral police will no longer cooperate with Unama, which they in a statement call "an opposing side" that engages in propaganda. Unama has been operating in the country since 2002.
The announcement comes after the UN mission warned that the harsh Taliban regime's new moral laws, which further cement the restrictions on women in the country, will put obstacles in the way of Afghanistan's continued cooperation with the international community.
The new moral law, which, among other things, stipulates that women must cover themselves completely and are not allowed to raise their voices, is believed to lead to increased control of women in already extremely repressive Afghanistan.
The Taliban regained power in the country in August 2021, after the US forces in the country withdrew.
