Nobel Prize-nominated László Krasznahorkai from Hungary has been nominated for the Culture House City Theatre's international literature prize. He is competing with, among others, Norwegian Steinar Opstad and Rwandan-French author Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse.
But just as important as the authors are also their Swedish translators. The prize is awarded to "an outstanding work of fiction in commendable Swedish translation" and the prize money of 150,000 kronor is divided equally between the author and translator. The winning duo will be announced on October 24.
The nominees are: "Time Fugitive" by Georgi Gospodinov in translation by Hanna Sandborgh, "What Are You Looking for, Wolf?" by Eva Vezjnavets in translation by Krystsina Banduryna and Mikael Nydahl, "All Your Scattered Children" by Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse in translation by Nils Wadström, "Herscht 07769" by László Krasznahorkai in translation by Daniel Gustafsson, and "To Be Many" by Steinar Opstad in translation by Marie Lundquist.
