This is how Sweden starts – without Lindelöf and Larsson

Victor Nilsson Lindelöf is missing from tonight's national team eleven against Slovakia. The centre-back and captain is obviously not fully recovered after his injury period. Hugo Larsson is rejected once again.

The national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson is betting on these eleven in tonight's early group final in the C-division of the Nations League at National Stadium in Bratislava:

Viktor Johansson – Alex Douglas, Isak Hien, Gabriel Gudmundsson – Niclas Eliasson, Jesper Karlström, Anton Salétros, Yasin Ayari, Ken Sema – Viktor Gyökeres, Dejan Kulusevski.

Jesper Karlström gets the chance in midfield.

"He has done very well in Udinese now and is a player who reads the game well defensively, who is skilled at defensive balance and winning second balls. He is good at playing forward too," says Tomasson to the association's website.

Notable is that Alex Douglas plays his third consecutive national team match.

"Alex is in the team again. He is still new in these contexts and is learning, but considering how he handled the previous gathering, he deserves to play," says Tomasson.

Hugo Larsson, who had a controversy about playing time with Tomasson during the previous gathering, will have to continue waiting for a starting spot in a competitive match.

Emil Krafth, back in the squad after an injury in September, was seen by many as a possible starter. But Newcastle's defender – who can play both right-back and center-back – will start on the bench.

The most surprising is Nilsson Lindelöf's absence. He was selected for the squad last week and played his first 45 minutes of the season with Manchester United on Sunday but is left out of the team.

"He is an important player but has just come back after an injury and has only played 45 minutes. He can come in and help the team if needed," says Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Slovakia's starting eleven: Marek Rodák – Peter Pekarík, Denis Vavro, Milan Skriniar, Dávid Hancko – Ondrej Duda, Stanislav Lobotka, László Bénes – Tomás Suslov, David Strelec, Lukás Haraslín.

The national team match kicks off at 20.45.
