In Ursula von der Leyen's proposed new EU Commission, there is no one with a clear title related to the labor market.
This is strongly disliked by the parties to the left and also the European trade union cooperation organization Etuc.
"Today's proposal is filled with portfolios that unfortunately sound like they were drawn up on some corporate outing, rather than as a response to the priorities of working people", snorts Etuc's General Secretary Esther Lynch in a press release.
In the outgoing Commission, Luxembourg's Nicolas Schmit handled the labor market under the title "Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights". In the new Commission, the same tasks fall to Romanian Roxana Mina with the title "Executive Vice-President for People, Skills and Preparation".
