Industrial production in the USA increased by 0.8 percent in August compared to July, according to statistics from the USA's central bank Federal Reserve (Fed).
The increase was greater than expected. The average forecast was an increase of 0.2 percent, according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg.
In July, industrial production fell by 0.9 percent in the USA according to revised figures.
Capacity utilization in the USA's industry increased to 78 percent in August, up from 77.4 percent in July.
