The Wax Museum in Dublin is removing a wax figure depicting the singer Sinéad O'Connor after her family has criticized its appearance.

It was on Thursday, a year after Sinéad O'Connor's death, that the museum presented the wax figure. Both spectators and the singer's family were shocked by how the figure looked, reports among others The Guardian.

Her brother, John O'Connor, says according to the newspaper that it does not look the least bit like the artist and that he himself contacted the museum to have it removed.

Since she is not here to defend herself, I took it upon myself to contact the museum, he says in a radio interview with RTÉ.

He says the figure looked like a mix of a mannequin and a character from the animated series Thunderbirds.

On Friday, the museum announced that they apologize and are removing the figure.

Sinéad O'Connor became most famous for her song "Nothing Compares 2 U", which was named best single in 1990 by Billboard Music Awards. She released ten albums during her career.

The singer was found dead in her home in July 2023, 56 years old. She was later found to have died of natural causes.
