More than 150,000 people have fled Khan Yunis in southern Gaza just since Monday, according to two UN agencies as reported by BBC.

The city has been the focus of a new Israeli military offensive, which according to Israel is aimed at combating "Hamas' efforts to reassemble its forces there".

Israel's military, IDF, ordered the evacuation of eastern parts of Khan Yunis on Monday and simultaneously reduced the size of the designated humanitarian zone Muwasi.

Over 80 percent of the Gaza Strip has been designated as evacuation zones or no-go zones by the Israeli military, says Louise Wateridge at the UN's Palestine agency Unrwa to BBC.

At least 80 people have been killed in Khan Yunis since the Israeli offensive began, according to figures from the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry. Both Unrwa and the UN's humanitarian agency Ocha confirm that around 150,000 people have fled the area.

Many Palestinians have repeatedly been forced to leave their homes, trying to reach safety during the war that broke out after Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.

IDF states in a statement that the military has "eliminated several terrorists" during its operation in the area.
