17 people have been killed in an Israeli attack on a school in Gaza City, according to the civil defense in Gaza.
"There are 17 martyrs and several injured after an Israeli attack on Hamama school", says Gaza's civil defense in a statement.
The school housed Palestinians who were forced to flee their homes in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, according to the civil defense spokesperson Mahmud Bassal.
The Israeli military confirmed the attack and claimed that the school was used by terrorist-stamped Hamas to manufacture weapons and added that it was a "hideout for terrorists".
The Israeli military has repeatedly accused Hamas of using civilian facilities as command and control centers or to hide their commanders. The Palestinian terrorist-stamped group denies the allegations.
