A person has been arrested by police after vandalizing a work by Impressionist Claude Monet at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. The woman glued a blood-red poster to the canvas, which lacked protective glass.

The woman is a member of Riposte Alimentaire, an organization that aims to raise awareness about global warming. It is not known what condition the painting, which depicts people in a wheat field, is in after the attack.

Riposte Alimentaire has carried out several attacks on famous works to raise awareness about the climate crisis. Earlier this year, they threw soup on Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" at the Louvre and on Monet's "Spring" at the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts.
