Steve McQueen's new film "Blitz" will be one of the main attractions at the festival, and the director will make an appearance in connection with the screening of the film on November 12.

"Blitz" takes place during the German bombing of London during World War II and follows mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) who is forced to send her nine-year-old son George to the countryside to escape the destruction.

"Blitz" will have a limited cinema premiere on November 15 before being released on Apple TV+ a week later.

McQueen started as a visual artist and is best known for the film "12 Years a Slave" from 2013, which was awarded three Oscars.

The Stockholm Visionary Award was established in 2004 and has previously been awarded to, among others, Terry Gilliam, Wes Anderson, and Catherine Breillat.

The Stockholm Film Festival takes place from November 6 to 17. The festival program will be released on October 9.
