It was in March that world number one Sinner on two occasions showed a positive doping test. The Italian's explanation was that he had ingested the banned steroid clostebol when his physiotherapist – who had injured his finger and used an ointment – massaged him. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) accepted the explanation and therefore cleared Sinner.

After that, he has been able to continue playing as usual – but he also chose to fire a fitness trainer and physiotherapist. Now, he has made it clear with two replacements: Marco Panichi (fitness trainer) and Ulises Badio (physiotherapist). Both have previously worked with Sinner's rival Novak Djokovic.

"Welcome to the team, Marco and Ulises", writes Sinner on his Instagram.

For just over a week ago, Sinner won the US Open after defeating American Taylor Fritz 3–0 in sets.
