The operation has been carried out with the help of Swedish police, who, among other things, have participated in the identification of the individuals, writes the police on their website.

The group is believed to be behind over 35,000 attacks during a year and to have caused damages of over one hundred million kronor, just in the USA. According to the police, the FBI and the American defense department have been targeted. In Sweden, attacks have been directed against, for example, healthcare, the aviation industry, and the financial sector.

In the international operation, several of the group's servers have also been shut down.

"It is gratifying to see the power of international cooperation where small puzzle pieces from different parts of the world can ultimately result in powerful measures", says Björn Eriksson, head of complex cybercrime at the police's national operational department (Noa).
