A 15-year-old boy is being prosecuted on suspicion of serious weapons offences after being arrested armed with a loaded pistol in a taxi on his way to the Israeli embassy, reports Ekot on Swedish Radio.

The arrest took place on 16 May in Tyresö, south of Stockholm.

He has refused to make any statements during the preliminary investigation, says prosecutor Rasmus Öman to the radio.

It is unclear what would have happened if the boy had reached his destination. However, in a seized mobile phone, the police have found several chats in English between the boy and an unknown person.

The boy has, according to the police, written that he "would do anything for this job". The unknown person is said to have given instructions on how the 15-year-old should first take a taxi to collect the weapon – and then wait for a second person who would take him to the embassy.

The boy is also said to have made searches on his mobile phone for both the Israeli embassy and the Israeli flag the evening before the arrest.

The following evening, a shooting occurred at the embassy that the police were unable to prevent. The Israeli intelligence service, Mossad, has identified the shooting as an Iranian contract job. Two people have been arrested.
