Thousands of products with banned chemicals on their way into the country have been stopped – electronics, jewelry, and pesticides. The Chemicals Agency is urging consumers to avoid buying goods from marketplaces where the seller is located outside the EU.

The controls were carried out in 2023 in collaboration with the Customs Agency, which alerted the Chemicals Agency to suspected products. The result was a large number of sales bans. The products were either sent back to the country of origin or destroyed.

The collaboration with the customs agency led to the authority making contact with many companies that are not normally inspected. It turned out that many had poor knowledge of chemical legislation, writes the Chemicals Agency in a press release.

The advice to consumers is to choose products of good quality, from well-known brands and well-established companies.
