Benson missed the medal: "Losing everything"

There was no medal for the shooter Anna Benson at the Paralympics in Paris. The Swede finished fourth after a nightmare start in the final of the 50-meter rifle, three positions. I didn't get into the kneeling position and that's where I lose everything, she says.

The expectations were high that the Halmstad shooter would secure Sweden's first medal in the Paralympic Games in Paris.

It was almost a gold opportunity since Anna Benson dominated in the qualifying round, which she won earlier on Tuesday.

But Benson had a nightmare start in the final and was last after the kneeling position, more than four points from a medal.

It was a bit uncomfortable in the kneeling position. The fact that I don't get a medal today is because my knee bothered me. That's why I ended up with this disappointing fourth place. I had wanted more, says Anna Benson to SVT.

After the nightmare start, the Swede came back after excelling in the prone position.

Suddenly, she was back in the medal race again, and for a moment, after the first shot in the final standing shooting, she was tied for bronze.

But then it got tougher for Anna Benson again.

This is not what I had wished for, but it's not bad. I have to be proud of my fourth place and go in and work hard on Thursday, says Benson.

That's when the 50-meter rifle prone event is decided, and Anna Benson has another medal chance.

She won silver in Tokyo in that very event – and it was in the prone position that she excelled in Tuesday's final.

I'll take my 10.9 scores in the prone position with me to Thursday, she replies when asked what she takes with her from the final.

German Natascha Hiltrop took gold after passing Veronika Vadovicova, Slovakia, in the competition's final shot.

Zhang Cuiping, China, took bronze.
