This is one of the films I will always be proud of, she says to TT via Zoom ahead of the Swedish premiere.

American Blake Lively plays the young florist Lily Bloom, who has freed herself from a traumatic upbringing and realized her dream of having her own flower shop. When she starts a relationship with the neurosurgeon Ryle, everything seems perfect, but the charming surgeon turns out to have a very aggressive side that opens up old wounds from childhood.

“It Ends with Us” became author Colleen Hoover's big breakthrough in the romance genre and is said to have sold at least four million copies. When the book was published in 2016, it started discussions about domestic violence.

I have understood how important the book has been and what it has meant for many people. Now we have got a fantastic opportunity to reach an even larger audience, says Blake Lively.

Moves Everyone

She believes that the story appeals to many, regardless of gender, age, and experiences.

The film affects women who have experienced this or who know someone who has experienced it, and it also addresses younger women who have not experienced domestic violence. Hopefully, it can be a warning signal for them, says Blake Lively.

I know many women who have seen it and said "exactly, that's how it was, that's how I had it". It's a story that moves you, whether you've experienced it yourself or not.

Personal Relationships Everywhere

Blake Lively is reluctant to answer questions about her family – her husband Ryan Reynolds and their four children. But she can't help but talk about how her own family relationships have affected her role interpretation.

What you see on the screen is actually the smallest part of my job. I took parts of my relationship with my mom, my sisters, my children, and all my feelings. There are all over the film in a way that I don't tell anyone. When I sit with my family and watch the film, I see pieces of them everywhere. Moments we've had together, things we've said to each other.
