The venerable show restaurant Hamburger Börs is closing, according to Aftonbladet, due to problems with too high a rent. The current owners, Moment Group, and the landlord, Vasakronan, have not come to an agreement, according to the establishment's CEO, Peter Bengtson.

It is based on the fact that Hamburger Börs has struggled with its economy for many years. The rent has been unreasonably high all the time. Now they have decided that enough is enough, he says.

Hamburger Börs is located at a venerable address in Stockholm, where restaurant operations have been conducted since the 1700s – under the name Hamburger Börs at least since 1811.

"The Exchange" as it has also been called has been home to pub shows and concerts with Swedish and international artists such as Lill Lindfors, Björn Skifs, Cornelis Vreeswijk, Monica Zetterlund, Johnny Cash, and Liza Minnelli.

It is unclear what will happen to the premises after the business closes with immediate effect. Several events are booked for the autumn, including shows with magician Julien Dauphin and Shirley Clamp.
