"Swede's farewell". "Farewell to a legend". When the former English national team captain is now buried in Torsby, it is being greatly noticed in British media.

Newspapers such as The Sun, Mirror and Daily Mail all had the funeral of Sven-Göran Eriksson as top news on their websites on Friday.

Daily Mail writes that the somber mood is accompanied by "a sense of gratitude for the man who was both a great in football and a local hero".

"Svennis" was England's national team captain between 2001-2006, and led the team in the World Championship 2002, European Championship 2004 and World Championship 2006. He was the first foreigner to coach England's men's national team.

The Telegraph highlights a chronicle that Eriksson wrote before his passing and which was published in the newspaper the day before the funeral.

"I would like people to remember me as a good coach who tried to do my best. I hope they enjoyed having me as a coach. My message to everyone would be: don't give up. Never give up."

The British newspapers also note that superstar David Beckham chooses to attend personally. A source tells The Sun that Beckham was "very close to Sven and wanted to say a personal goodbye", but adds that he will keep a "low profile".

David Beckham was captain of the national team for England when Sven-Göran Eriksson was national team captain, and he visited Torsby last summer to meet his friend one last time.
