City back as winners – Kovacic scores two goals

Manchester City is back on the winning track in Premier League football. Against Fulham, it was a win with 3–2, among other things thanks to two goals by Mateo Kovacic.

Manchester City has been the big giant in English football in recent seasons, but ahead of Saturday's meeting, Erling Braut Haaland and his teammates came with "only" two unbeaten matches in a row in the league.

There was no perfect start to the match for City either. It was actually visiting Fulham who could take the lead after 26 minutes. Raul Jimenez made a lovely pass when he flicked the ball to Andreas Pereira, who could score 1-0.

Mateo Kovacic would, however, see to it that the match turned. With just over half an hour played, he equalized for City - and almost immediately in the second half, it was time again for the Croatian when he made it 2-1.

Pressed by Fulham

In the 82nd minute, there was also 3-1 for City through substitute Jeremy Doku - his first league goal of the season - and it looked like the match was decided.

Fulham had not given up, however, and continued to press the home team, and in the final minutes, there was also a reduction to 2-3 through Rodrigo Muniz, but no more than that, despite there being opportunities for the guests.

The 3-2 win means that Manchester City retains its second place in the table, one point behind league leader Liverpool and on the same points as third-place Arsenal - which in turn won 3-1 against Southampton during the afternoon.

Early goal again

Further down the table, Brentford is a team that had an almost incredible streak of scoring goals in the very first minute of the match in three matches in a row, ahead of its meeting with bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

Now, however, the trend was broken - not until the second minute of the match did Brentford's 1-0 goal come, when Nathan Collins nodded the ball in. It ended up being a win for Brentford with 5-3.
