It is possible to take a break from schooling during the semester, however, this may need further discussion from the school and its pertains. In Sweden, schooling is required to be observed, but in exceptional cases given personal needs, students can be allowed to go away for short periods.

School's principal decides

Sadly, quite often, each such decision is absolutely entrusted to the school’s principal, who looks into the individual situation of the child in question. Reasoning includes, but is not limited to, the student’s academic record, the amount of time requested by the leave, and the necessity of being physically absent. Once the number is more than ten days, it becomes harder to get such permission as the head of the institution should understand whether this will affect the education of the student. Moreover, there will not be a rule permitting every student of a certain age to take absence from school: reasons for each student’s attempt must be presented.

Back your case with arguments

But in the case of parents or guardians addressing the school in order to receive a leave approval, doing such things is highly efficient due to the overbearing nature of these educational standards in the Swedish system, so it is a necessity to include essential arguments backing up the request.
