Israel's air defense launched an attack in Tulkarem, in the northwestern parts of the West Bank, during the night to Tuesday.
According to Israel, the attack targeted a militant cell that had fired at security forces. A local healthcare source told AFP that a 15-year-old boy was killed in the attack, which also injured several members of his family, according to the source.
Water pipes destroyed
There is a strong focus on Jenin, where Israeli military has killed at least 18 people since the operations began on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian Health Department. Israel claims that 14 militants were killed.
On Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl was killed by the Israeli military in the village of Kfar Dan near Jenin, according to the Palestinian Health Department. It is unclear whether she is included in the total death toll in Jenin.
According to AFP's correspondent on the spot, the streets are empty and the shops are closed in Jenin. Only Israeli military vehicles and ambulances are driving on the roads, which have largely been torn up by Israel's bulldozers. Bashir Matahen, spokesperson for Jenin's municipal council, says that 80 percent of the city's water pipes have been destroyed in the past few days. The municipality lacks the means to carry out all necessary repairs, he says.
Unusually extensive raids
Jenin, and the adjacent refugee camp, has long been a stronghold for armed Palestinian groups fighting against Israel, which has occupied the West Bank in violation of international law since 1967. The Israeli military regularly conducts raids there, but rarely as extensive as the past week, when operations have been coordinated on several fronts.
At least 637 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers on the West Bank since the Gaza war broke out on October 7, according to UN figures from last week. During the same period, at least 23 Israelis, including soldiers, have been killed, according to Israeli officials.
