It is in the podcast "Einfach mal Luppen" – run by former football star Toni Kroos and his brother Felix – that Jürgen Klopp for the first time addresses the criticism he received regarding his new job.

The negative comments mainly came from supporters of his former club Dortmund.

The club's supporter magazine "Schwatzgelb" wrote that Klopp had ruined his reputation.

"Jürgen Klopp's decision to support Red Bull has ruined his life's work, at least for a large part of Dortmund supporters and supporters in Germany", the magazine wrote.

Klopp:

I didn't want to step on anyone's toes, absolutely not. I love all my former clubs. I don't even know what I could have done differently for everyone to be satisfied, he says.

The 57-year-old was coach for Liverpool for nine years, previously he was in Mainz and Dortmund and is now global football chief for the Red Bull conglomerate.

I can't do much, but I understand a bit about football, he says jokingly and elaborates on what his job entails.

Basically, I'm an advisor. Someone who hopefully can contribute with calm in certain situations and assess things correctly in other situations. I want to work together with the coaches.
