Djurgarden's Joy - Clear for Conference League

Djurgården has qualified for the Conference League's main tournament. 1–0 in the qualifying return match against Maribor was enough. But for Häcken, there was no advancement.

1–0 at home. 1–0 away.

Djurgården is looking forward to an autumn with matches in the Conference League's main tournament.

Magic! This is somewhere we've been striving for all the time, says Djurgården's Deniz Hümmet in Aftonbladet's broadcast.

The team brought a 1–0 lead to Slovenia after Tokmac Nguen's goal at home in Stockholm. And in Maribor, Djurgården got a real dream start. Already after four minutes, Gustav Wikheim took himself forward and served Hümmet, who scored 1–0.

"We were the stronger team"

Maribor – with former Serie A star Josip Ilicic in the starting lineup – created some decent chances afterwards, but Djurgården held out well. It became even tougher for the Slovenians in the 59th minute when Lan Vidmar received his second yellow card after a tackle on Adam Ståhl.

When the referee blew the whistle, the Djurgården players could celebrate. 2–0 overall in the double match means playing in Europe this autumn – and a nice sum of money in the bank.

The draw will take place on Friday.

We knew from the first round that to get all the way, we had to play good matches all the way. It's going to be a real European night tonight, if you will. It's intense and a bit tactical. We were the stronger team and I think we won deservedly, says Hümmet.

Häcken eliminated

For Häcken, however, there will be no play in the Conference League's main tournament. The team lost the first qualifying match against German Heidenheim 1–2. In the return match, it was also the Germans who took the lead before Häcken, thanks to Zeidane Inoussa and Jeremy Agbonifo, equalized the double match.

But with six minutes left of regular time, Bayern München loanee Paul Wanner scored 2–2 in the match, and in extra time, Mathias Honsak set the final score, 3–2. Heidenheim thus advanced with 5–3 overall.

Performance-based money in the Conference League:

Start sum: 36 million kronor (3.17 million euro)

Won match: 4.5 million kronor (400,000 euro)

Drawn match: 1.5 million kronor (133,000 euro)

Placement 1–8 in the league: 4.5 million kronor (400,000 euro)

Placement 9-16: 2.3 million kronor (200,000 euro)

Place in playoff to quarterfinal: 2.3 million kronor (200,000 euro)

Semifinal: 28.4 million kronor (2.5 million euro)

Final place: 45.5 million kronor (4 million euro)

Winning the final: 35.1 million kronor (3 million euro)

Bonus for table placement in the group stage: A total sum is divided into 666 equal shares, where the winner gets a maximum of 36 shares and the worst-placed team gets 1 share. Each share is calculated to be worth approximately 318,000 kronor (28,000 euro)

+ There is also money from the so-called value pot, which collects money from TV deals sold in Europe and the rest of the world.

+ Qualified teams in the Conference League also receive payments of almost two million kronor (175,000 euro) per qualifying round played.

Note: Exchange rate from August 28, where 1 euro corresponds to approximately 11.37 kronor.
