Eight people have been suffocated to death in a lorry in Henan Province in central China.
The individuals had been "illegally" transported in a refrigerated lorry, according to investigators from the local police in a statement.
"The driver found eight people suffocated and unconscious in the vehicle", stated the investigators and added that the individuals were later pronounced dead.
The case is now being investigated by the police, who have taken the driver and other "responsible persons" into custody, according to the statement.
