An employee at the Sis-home in Långanäs broke the arm of a forcibly cared-for girl during a violent intervention. The employee had previously been investigated for gross assault.

Two departments at the Sis-home in Långanäs in Eksjö municipality have recently been closed down by the Inspectorate for Healthcare and Welfare (IVO), and staff are being investigated for subjecting the children to gross violence. A girl, for example, is said to have been strangled and got marks on her neck and around her eyes.

Now, more detailed information is emerging about a forcibly cared-for girl who allegedly had her arm broken by an employee who had previously been investigated for both gross assault and domestic burglary. This is reported by Sveriges Radio.

This is something we were not aware of, and it is regrettable if it is the case that this employee has a past of this kind, says Ludwig Vinterdag, unit manager and deputy institutional manager at Långanäs to SR.

When employing someone, a criminal record check should be carried out, but if the person is acquitted, as in this case, nothing shows up. The employee is being investigated by the police and is currently on leave of absence.
