It was a late evening last week when the stations Flinders Street and Flagstaff in the multi-million city Melbourne were flooded after a water leak.

The state's transport minister Danny Pearson says that it initially seemed to be a case of "deliberate vandalism". But, he continues at a press conference where he can't hold back his laughter:

After studying surveillance video, it appears that a couple, in a stairwell, turned off a sprinkler.

The couple had apparently sought out the secluded corner to cuddle after a restaurant evening.

A stairwell may not be the best place, says Pearson according to Australian media.

But he emphasizes that "the damages are significant" after the incident and that the authorities are now looking for the guilty couple.

The flooding caused problems in public transportation at the same time as many were on their way home after a concert with the American star Olivia Rodrigo, report media in Melbourne.
