Mexico's former security minister Genaro García Luna, who was the face of the country's war against gangs, has been sentenced to over 38 years in prison in the USA.
The 56-year-old was found guilty last year of secretly accepting large bribes from Mexico's largest drug cartel.
"Power cannot protect you from justice," says Anne Milgram, head of the US federal drug police agency, in a press release after the sentence was announced on Wednesday.
