The suspected shooter fled afterwards, but was killed later in the afternoon according to Israel's military.

The man hid in a house in the city of Hebron. Israeli forces surrounded the house and "eliminated" him on the spot, according to the military.

Violence on the West Bank has escalated sharply since Wednesday, when Israel's military launched synchronized operations in several areas of the occupied territory. Around 25 Palestinians have been killed in the past few days, according to both Israel and the Palestinian terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, with a majority of them being fighters, but not all. Large parts of the infrastructure have been destroyed by Israeli tanks during the operations.

Since October 7, when the war between Israel and Hamas broke out, the violence has also spilled over to the West Bank. Around 640 Palestinians have been killed by settlers or Israeli military, according to the UN. During the same period, around 23 Israelis have been killed, according to Israeli figures.
