The Administrative Court has temporarily halted the decision by the governing parties in Gothenburg City Council to boycott products from Israel, reports DN.
The decision was made by the Procurement and Purchasing Committee on 13 June following a proposal from the Social Democrats, the Left Party, and the Green Party, who wanted to stop all purchases from, among others, Israel, with the aim of no longer "buying in products originating from states that engage in illegal occupation of other states".
The other parties voted against, and the committee's decision was appealed to the Administrative Court.
The court believes the decision may be unlawful.
"There are strong reasons to suggest that the committee's decision to, among other things, stop buying in products originating from certain states is unlawful", the court writes in a decision on Tuesday.
