Green light for Danish weapons against Russian territory

Denmark's government is backing Ukraine's entry into Russia, announces Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. This means that they do not see any problems with Danish-donated weapons being used in Russia.

You don't reasonably win this war by only defending yourself and deflecting what's being shot at you, says Løkke Rasmussen according to the news agency Ritzau.

Defending oneself can absolutely mean that you also enter the attacker's territory, he continues.

On Monday, Denmark announced its 20th support package to Ukraine, with 800 new Danish million kronor for, among other things, the purchase of military equipment.

Several Western countries have recently given the green light to Ukraine to use donated weapons against Russian territory, including Finland and the UK.

At the same time, Germany has faced criticism for its plans to halve its financial support to Ukraine. The German government instead hopes for support through frozen Russian assets, a planned solution that the G7 countries have agreed on, according to a leaked budget draft.

On Monday, the government in Berlin assured that Germany will continue to assist Ukraine, reports AFP.

We will ensure that Ukraine receives the funds it needs to continue its fight for freedom and self-determination, says a spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry.
