The verbal exchange takes place at the same time as Netanyahu is under pressure to reach an agreement that would mean the release of the remaining hostages. On Sunday, Israel announced that it had found the remains of six murdered people from the hostage group in tunnels under Gaza.
One point that Netanyahu brought up during his press conference on Wednesday evening was the controversial Philadelphia corridor between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, a strip of land that Netanyahu emphasized Israel would retain control over.
Hamas, on the other hand, demands that Israeli troops withdraw from the area and believes that the Israeli leader's statement aims to "prevent the possibility of reaching an agreement".
"New proposals are not what is needed", Hamas writes in a message on Telegram, referring to having already agreed to Joe Biden's proposal for a ceasefire.
Netanyahu's tough stance indicates that he is not willing to back down, despite the massive street protests in Israel that have demanded that the government agree to a ceasefire to free the hostages.
