IFK Göteborg Lost the Win - in Stoppage Time

IFK Gothenburg lost the lead three times and had to settle for a point in the derby against Häcken. There were only seconds left of the match when Häcken's Ali Youssef ensured the derby ended 3–3. One point is better than none, he says to Max.

IFK Göteborg had not won in Allsvenskan since July 15 – seven straight matches without a win – and had only scored three goals in the last five matches.

But in the away game against Häcken, "Blåvitt" managed to find a way to win again in the very end.

Then Ali Youssef saved a point for the home team with an equalizer just in the added time.

Nice, of course, but even nicer if we had won, he says to Max.

So I'm a little disappointed.

Häcken had most of the game in the match lead. But the chances were few when both teams started cautiously.

New acquisition scored

Then it happened three times in just a few minutes.

It had gone just over half an hour when IFK Göteborg's forward Lars Skjellerup worked out a counterattack on the right flank and found Paulos Abraham who came rushing in from the left.

Abraham – "Blåvitt's" top scorer so far – first tried to pass into the middle, but got the ball back when Häcken tried to clear and could score the lead into an open goal.

Häcken's response came just a few minutes later, after a turn of play where Ali Youssef eventually became completely free and equalized from close range. But two minutes later, IFK Göteborg was in the lead again.

Ramon Pascal Lundqvist, who was bought in from Turkish Göztepe at the end of the summer, managed to put the ball in place outside the penalty area before shooting in 2–1 in the far corner.

So far, the match was quite symptomatic of Häcken's season.

Offensively, it has looked about as usual. But defensively, it has worked a bit worse.

We give them the ball a bit too easily, noted Zeidane Inoussa, who played forward to Häcken's first goal, in Max at halftime.

Quick response

It was true even in the second half. Häcken got an equalizer fairly early on when Julius Lindberg scored 2–2 from a bit outside the penalty area.

But IFK Göteborg responded almost directly again.

After an attack on the left flank, Ramon Pascal Lundqvist became completely free in the penalty area and made it 3–2 with half an hour left to play.

IFK Göteborg was then only seconds away from a heavy three-pointer in the bottom struggle. But Häcken got another chance – and Ali Youssef made the most of it.
