An independent expert will review this year's Eurovision after the final in Malmö.

"The EBU is constantly striving to improve its services and arrangements. To further strengthen the Eurovision Song Contest, we have asked an independent expert to look at ESC 2024 in Malmö to share the insights it gives with EBU's governing body," it says in a statement to the British news agency PA.

Among other things, the Dutch participant Joost Klein was disqualified after allegedly threatening a female photographer, a decision which the Dutch TV company Avrotros called "disproportionately strict".

Israel's participation was also questioned due to the humanitarian crisis during the war in Gaza, while the Israeli delegation claimed they were met with "unmatched hatred" from other countries during the competition. Irish Bambie Thug also accused the Israeli TV company KAN of violating the rule against inciting violence, and is waiting for a response from EBU.
